Best not to take me too seriously, then.

Robert Downey Jr.’s reaction to breaking his ankle while filming Iron Man 3 [x]

I injured my ankle pretty badly a couple years back, and “I had nothing to say” is a pretty good way to sum the experience up—I was too busy trying to figure out what the fuck just happened, like attempting to put a puzzle together while under the haze of some intense drug that walled off all of the necessary parts of my brain. It was probably a good ten seconds before I even made a peep, at which point I pretty much figured out what was going on, and was only calling out for someone to come help me up.

Now that I think about it, I’ve been around quite a few people who’ve just suffered bad injuries without making much of a sound. I wonder if it’s actually all that uncommon?

There’s actually evidence to support that people in severe pain will often… prioritize, we shall say. The pain is there, but your brain blunts it to keep you both functional and aware. After all, you gotta figure out what has happened and get yourself help. In fact, in my experience, the injured party is the voice of reason. Everyone else is freaking out.

… of course, there’s also crossing over into “so much pain your body is in shock.” so. 8| YMMV.

also filed under cute little scenes that don’t exist in the manga.

…which is a crying shame, so also filed under things that the anime manages to do right.

What makes mothers all that they are?
Might as well ask, “What makes a star?”
